Jeff is a fantastic dog trainer. Jeff is the only dog trainer in the Vancouver area that we
recommend. He has a lot of hands on dog training experience and has trained under some of
the most respected teachers. Jeff teaches training using remote training collars which if used
properly can be a very humane and effective training tool. Jeff's training is located in North
Burnaby... a very reasonable drive to learn from the best!
Jeff seems to just naturally understand dogs! Highly recommended trainer!

This is a fantastic kennel that we have used a lot. This is
the only boarding facility in Chilliwack that we use!
It is a place for your companion to play while you are
away. They are great with all dogs from Lap dogs to
Police K-9s. Call far in advance of your departure date as
they are a great place so they fill up quickly!

Have fun while training! This method gives your dog choices, then you simply
reward him for making the correct choice. This gives him credit for being an
intelligent, sensitive creature who enjoys working when we allow him to think for
himself. This happy attitude assures your dog will work joyfully and correctly--in
other words, he will love to work!! Stresses the drive instinct in the dog, and is
a step-by-step manual to teach you how to train your dog for winning
obedience. Popular with both Schutzhund and competitive obedience
customers. Deals with the novice exercises: heeling, sit, stay, down, stand,
recall.
Fantastic Book! Temple Grandin is an autistic woman who has a gift for
understanding animals and seeing the world through their eyes.
This book covers a lot of information and is cited well for further reading. The
best book we have read that helps explain how animals think. We have read
other popular books about how animals think only to be disappointed but this
book is amazing!
Available at most bookstores.
Don't be put off by the title. We think this is a very comprehensive book about
dog training. It is very well written and easy to follow. A must read for new dog
owners. It is also an easy book to find. Most bookstores and retail outlets carry
it as well as most online stores.
PLEASE NOTE: The book we recommend is "Dog Training for Dummies"
By Jack and Wendy Volhard
***NOT "Puppies for Dummies" and NOT "Puppy Raising & Training Diary"***
***Very different books, different authors and entirely different training philosophies!!!***

Veterinarians
This in NOT an endorsement of these vets- again, do your research and make your own decision.
These are vets we have personally used and have been happy with!
A vet rating website... a good tool.
We have two foster families who use Dr.Maja and are very pleased with
her. She has also done hip x-rays for quite a few of our dogs and we are
pleased with the effort she puts into setting up the x-rays (the most
important part). Located in Port Moody BC

Dr. Mark Steinebach is by far the best diagnostic vet we have met. He has
the equipment, skill and intelligence. He is certainly not the cheapest vet but
you often get what you pay for. Located in Chilliwack BC.

Inside of a Dog - Alexandra Horowitz
We have only gotten about half way through this book but are impressed so far.
Well written and contains factual information based upon science!
When you understand how dogs view the world it gives us a better understanding
of how to communicate with them and it allows us to understand why they do what
they do!
Available in most bookstores.
